707-711 South Loudoun Street

This two story frame and stucco duplex is an excellent example of a vernacular townhouse. The property was likely built by Mathias Rutter between his purchase in 1856 and the sale to William V. Hodges in 1866. It remained in the Hodges family until 1975. Originally clad in weatherboards which remain under the stucco, the townhouse is historically intact with 6/6 and 9/6 sash windows, fireplaces with mantels in the south unit, and a full attic with wide pine flooring in the north unit.
